Purified shellac flakes to prepare ~4 oz - 110 ml shellac varnish with 160 proof or 80% ABV alcohol.  

After complete dissolution, there may be very very few traces of sediments in the mixture. It is recommended to filter the diluted shellac with a paint filter, cheesecloth or a piece of white cotton.
