Fire chamber, stem and air holes are drilled. It is ready to smoke or you can carve it further.
Block will be delivered dry and unwaxed.
All meerschaums listed in the website are from “Sarisu” mines from most respected suppliers now. Sarisu district of Eskisehir yields best quality stones and well known among Meerschaum community.

The stem is included in the sale. Stem hole is drilled and threaded (M8X1.25) for a Teflon delrin attachment screw set. But it can easily be drilled further in order to hold other regular stems.
Blocks number 34-38-40-41-42-43-44-45 have threaded 9mm filter type tenons and long polyester stems.

Freshly mined Meerschaum is fully saturated with moisture and it dries quickly. When it dries, it hardens. It is much easier and more effective to carve it wet. When wet, you can carve it like a bar of soap.
To carve your block easily and effectively: Wet the surface of the stone completely with the water you've sprayed on. Then, wrap the stone in a thoroughly damp piece of tissue paper and place it in a sealed container, such as a zip-lock bag. After about an hour or two, the Meerschaum will be ready for carving. If you're carving deep enough to approach the dry center of the stone, you can spray the dry area you've reached with water and continue carving. Once you've finished carving, let the stone sit in an open area until it's completely dry. After final sanding while the stone is dry, seal your carving by dipping it in melted and liquefied beeswax or carnauba wax. DO NOT FORGET TO PLUG FIRE CHAMBER WITH WINE CORK OR SIMILAR MATERIAL AND TENON HOLE TOO. Wipe the excess wax with some tissue while the carving still hot with heat of the melted wax. I recommend drilling (fire chamber, air hole, and mouthpiece tenon holes) after waxing and by fixing it securely. Now it is ready to gently buff with or without some carnauba wax. Natural beeswax gives a distinctive honey color to carved items. Even with traditional use of purified beeswax, pure white will tint a little towards ivory color.
